A flush trim bit is the cabinetmaker answer to an edge that needs to match: the bearing rides the template or the workpiece edge while the cutters bring the rest flush. The best router bit for trim work pairs a sharp carbide edge with a smooth-rolling bearing, in the diameter and cutting length your template needs. This guide compares five by carbide, bearings, sizes and warranty.

Specifications are manufacturer rated, as published on each listing and collected 21 October 2026. Where a listing states a figure two ways, the table shows both.
What the listings tell you
Two listings state figures two ways. The Newdeli table lists a 0.75 in cutting diameter against the 1/2 in cutting diameter in its title; trust the title. The Freud table lists 1 flute against the 2-cutter design in its title and bullets; trust the title and bullets. The LU&MN listing states to ensure at least some shank is inserted but gives no figure, so confirm the minimum on the listing before use.
Buying guide: the best router bit for trim work
Carbide and cutters
Cutting edges here run from carbide-tipped (Bosch, Junreox) to tungsten carbide (Newdeli) to solid carbide (LU&MN) to TiCo hi-density carbide (Freud). The Freud states long-lasting sharpness for hardwoods, softwoods, plastic laminates and veneered plywood. All five state 2 cutters or a 2-flute design except the Freud table oddity. Sharper carbide means cleaner edges and less tear-out.
Bearings: top, bottom or both
Three sets state a top bearing that glides along the template or workpiece edge: the LU&MN, Newdeli and Junreox, with the Newdeli and Junreox stating sealed bearings for smooth rotation. The Freud is the only one with both top and bottom bearings, which lets you rout half a curve, flip the workpiece and rout the other half without repositioning the pattern. The Bosch states no bearing.
Diameters and cutting lengths
The LU&MN set covers four diameters: 1/4, 5/16, 3/8 and 1/2 in, with a 1-3/16 in cutting length. The Newdeli set keeps a 1/2 in diameter across four cutting lengths: 3/8, 3/4, 1 and 1-1/2 in. The Junreox set also uses a 1/2 in diameter with four lengths: 15/32, 25/32, 31/32 and 1-1/2 in. The Freud is a single 1/2 in bit, and the Bosch a single 3/8 in by 1 in bit. Pick the cutting length for your stock thickness.
Speed and safety
The Freud is rated for a maximum of 24,000 RPM; the Junreox states optimal use at 24,000 RPM or less. The Newdeli and Junreox listings carry safety reminders: inspect the bit, wear eye protection, secure the workpiece, install firmly, never exceed the maximum RPM. All five use a 1/4 in shank, and the Junreox ships each bit in its own case while the Newdeli ships a single plastic box.
When a set beats a single bit
Sets win when the job changes size: the LU&MN covers four diameters, the Newdeli and Junreox cover four cutting lengths each. A single bit wins when you know the size: the Freud 50-501 is the premium single with dual bearings and TiCo carbide, and the Bosch 85268MC is the simple single-bit replacement. Count how many of your past trim jobs needed a different size before choosing.
Cutting diameters: when size matters
The LU&MN set is the only one here with multiple cutting diameters: 1/4 in, 5/16 in, 3/8 in and 1/2 in, covering veneer trimming to cabinet edge clean-up. The Freud 50-501, Newdeli and Junreox are all 1/2 in cutting diameter, and the Bosch 85268MC is 3/8 in. A larger diameter covers more edge per pass but needs more router power; a smaller diameter turns tighter curves. If your trim work is all one edge thickness, a single 1/2 in bit is enough; if it varies, the LU&MN set covers the spread.
Cutting lengths: match the stock
Cutting length must cover the stock thickness. The Newdeli set offers four lengths: 3/8 in, 3/4 in, 1 in and 1-1/2 in; the Junreox offers 15/32 in, 25/32 in, 31/32 in and 1-1/2 in. The LU&MN lists 1-3/16 in cutting length and the Bosch is 3/8 in by 1 in. For 3/4 in cabinet stock, a 1 in or 1-1/2 in cutter trims in one pass; for thin veneer or laminate, a short cutter like the 15/32 in Junreox keeps the cut controlled. Buy length for your thickest common stock.
Carbide grades and coatings
All five use carbide, but the grades differ. The LU&MN uses industrial-grade solid carbide with tungsten steel cutters. The Freud uses TiCo Hi-Density Carbide, stated for long-lasting sharpness in hardwoods, softwoods, plastic laminates and veneered plywood. The Bosch uses micrograin carbide tipped cutters for chatter-free trimming. The Newdeli uses heat-treated tungsten carbide with a heat-resistant Teflon coating, and the Junreox uses heat-treated tungsten steel blades with an anti-kickback design. Higher-grade carbide holds an edge longer in hardwoods and laminates.
Cases and storage
Router bits chip when they rattle together. The Junreox ships each bit in its own case, protecting edges and making the set easy to carry. The Newdeli packs its four bits in a single plastic box that keeps the carbide-tipped bits from colliding. The Freud and Bosch are single bits with no stated case, so store them in a bit block or their original packaging. If you buy the sets, keep them cased between jobs.
RPM and safety
The Freud is rated for a maximum of 24,000 RPM; the Junreox states optimal use at 24,000 RPM or less. The Newdeli and Junreox listings carry safety reminders: inspect the bit, wear eye protection, secure the workpiece, install the bit firmly, never exceed the maximum RPM. The LU&MN listing reminds you to insert enough shank and tighten firmly, and notes the bits are not for metal or iron. Run the stated RPM, clamp the work and let the cutter feed at its own pace.
How the scores add up
Each bit is scored on performance, build, value, safety and warranty, using only what the listing publishes. A spec the listing does not publish scores nothing.
| Product | HQ Score | Perf. /35 | Build /25 | Value /25 | Safety /10 | Warranty /5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Freud 50-501 Trim Bit | 9.6 | 29 | 21 | 19 | n/a | 0 |
| LU&MN 4pc Trim Set | 9.5 | 27 | 19 | 21 | n/a | 0 |
| Junreox 4pc Trim Set | 9.5 | 26 | 19 | 21 | n/a | 0 |
| Newdeli 4pc Trim Set | 9.4 | 24 | 18 | 20 | n/a | 0 |
| Bosch 85268MC Bit | 9.3 | 23 | 18 | 16 | n/a | 0 |
Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score. Safety counts only for powered gear or where the listing states safety features; where it does not apply, the score is taken over the remaining 90 points.
FAQ: lasers and CNC
What does a flush trim bit do?
Its bearing rides a template or an edge while the cutters trim the workpiece flush to it, for veneer, laminate and cabinet edges.
Top bearing or bottom bearing?
A top bearing follows the template above the work; a bottom bearing follows an edge below. The Freud has both, so you can rout in either direction.
What RPM should I run?
The Freud is rated to 24,000 RPM maximum; the Junreox states use at 24,000 RPM or less. Never exceed the maximum RPM stated on the listing.
Which of these states a warranty?
The Freud states a Freud Limited Tooling Warranty with no term. No warranty term is stated on the other four listings.
