Specifications are manufacturer rated, as published on each listing and collected 3 November 2026. Accuracy is the figure each listing states for its own scanner.

What the listings tell you, and what they leave out

The listings state accuracy in different ways, so read the words around the number. The MetroY Pro title gives 0.01 mm, which its bullets call precision, while its accuracy is 0.02 mm. The MIRACO Pro and the Raptor both state 0.02 mm, and the Otter Lite Basic states 0.05 mm. The Otter Lite Basic title names Wi-Fi 6 support, but its bullets state Wi-Fi connectivity to a computer and smartphone scanning are not supported on this version, so this version scans over USB. Warranty terms are stated for three scanners: 2 year for the MetroY Pro, two-year for the MIRACO Pro and 1 Year for the Otter Lite Basic. The Raptor listing states no warranty term.

Buying guide: choosing the best industrial 3d scanner

Accuracy and precision

Precision and accuracy are not the same figure. The MetroY Pro lists 0.01 mm precision with 0.02 mm accuracy, while the MIRACO Pro and the Raptor list 0.02 mm and the Otter Lite Basic lists 0.05 mm. For inspection work where small errors matter, the finer figure wins; for copying a large housing for printing, the coarser figure is enough and the other specs decide.

Speed and scanning modes

Speed comes in two units here, so do not compare them directly. The MetroY Pro lists up to 2,000,000 points per second, and up to 7 million points per second in marker-free mode, with 5 modes including 34 cross-lines, 15 parallel lines, single-line deep hole scanning, 62-line full-field light and auto turntable. The Raptor lists up to 60 FPS, the Otter Lite Basic lists up to 30 fps, and the MIRACO Pro lists up to 15 fps in continuous mode with a single-shot mode for feature-rich or featureless objects.

Object size and connection

Match the scanner to the largest object you scan. The Raptor covers objects from 5 mm to 2000 mm with blue light and infrared sources, and the Otter Lite Basic covers objects from 0.8 inch to 78 inch with a quad-camera design. The MIRACO Pro covers everything from small screws to cars and large machinery with Near-mode and Far-mode, and the MetroY Pro adds a one-click auto turntable mode. For connection, the MetroY Pro and the MIRACO Pro use Wi-Fi 6, the Otter Lite Basic uses USB, and the Raptor listing states no connection type.

Safety classes

Two scanners state a laser safety class: the Raptor states Class 1 blue light, and the Otter Lite Basic states Class I laser safety with invisible near-infrared light. The MetroY Pro and the MIRACO Pro state no laser class. A stated class names the maker’s safety level for the light source; a listing that states none scores nothing on safety here.

Project Match

Match the scanner to the work you do most, using only what each listing states:

  • Reverse engineering and measurement: Revopoint MetroY Pro with 0.01 mm precision and 5 modes, and Revopoint MIRACO Pro with 0.02 mm single-frame precision.
  • Small to large objects in one unit: Creality Raptor with blue light and infrared sources for objects from 5 mm to 2000 mm.
  • Dark and metallic surfaces without spray: Creality Otter Lite with no spray for dark, shiny and metallic surfaces, and Revopoint MetroY Pro with no spray needed in any laser mode.
  • Face and full-body scans: Creality Otter Lite with Class I laser safety for face and full-body scanning in about 1 minute.

How the scores add up

Each scanner is scored out of 10 on performance, build, value, safety and warranty, with the weights published on our How We Pick page. A spec the listing does not publish scores nothing.

Product HQ Score Perf. /35 Build /25 Value /25 Safety /10 Warranty /5
Revopoint MetroY Pro 9.6 33 21 20 0 4
Creality Otter Lite 9.5 26 20 19 7 3
Creality Raptor 9.5 30 21 21 7 0
Revopoint MIRACO Pro 9.5 30 22 20 0 0

Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score.

FAQ: lasers and CNC

What is a 3D scanner?

A 3D scanner captures the shape of a physical object and turns it into a digital file for modeling, inspection or printing. The scanners here export OBJ, STL and PLY files, and the Otter Lite Basic also exports ASC, 3MF, GLTF and FBX.

Do I need scanning spray for dark surfaces?

No spray is needed on the MetroY Pro in any laser mode, and the Otter Lite Basic scans dark, shiny and metallic surfaces without any powder or spray. The Raptor and MIRACO Pro listings do not promise spray-free scanning of dark surfaces.

Can these scanners work without a computer?

The MIRACO Pro scans and edits on board with no cables and no computer needed. The Otter Lite Basic scans through a USB connection to a computer, the MetroY Pro connects to a PC over Wi-Fi 6, and the Raptor lists computer configurations for Windows and macOS.

Which scanner has the longest warranty?

The MetroY Pro lists a 2 year warranty and the MIRACO Pro lists a two-year warranty, while the Otter Lite Basic lists 1 Year and the Raptor listing states no warranty term.
